North York Moors National Park

RAF Fylingdales until the mid 1990s Bridestones, one of the rock outcrops on the moors The North York Moors is a vast area of heather moorland stretching for miles. There are many beautiful and tranquil villages nestling in the Dales, with numerous visitors' attractions such as the "North Yorkshire Steam Railway" between Grosmont and Pickering, the Danby Moors Centre and the "Bridestones", a formation of rocks on the edge of Dalby Forest. See photograph on the right. The photograph on the left hand side shows a view of the early warning station of RAF Fylingdales as it was until the mid 1990s. The "Golfballs" have now been demolished.
